Letters from a Fourth Grade Class

Dear Dave Eggers,

You're an Amazing and Wonderful writer, I’m Shyne(Werewolf) Spis, And I love your book The Lifters because the creativity never ends. And I hope that you could probably make another book but this time could you probably call it the adventures of Maisy and Derek,Part 2 of The Lifters, and have it turn out Catalina Catalan was a big sister and had a little brother who was 5 at the time her and Gran sort of became friends. And it’s been 4 years and they probably could have been 11 at the time so now both Catalina and Gran are 15. And Derek and Maisy are now 8 and 9 years old. And their older siblings told them about the tunnels. But Catalina and Derek always played them together so Derek already knew about tunnels because Catalina already did that with him since he was little. Catalina and Derek already knew their ways around the tunnels so they always led Gran and Maisy around the tunnels so that they could play. But one day, When they were heading towards the tunnels they saw two injured animals, one was a Black fox and one was a wolf and it seemed like the animals were playing around and they got scraped. Also Dave Eggers, I hope you read this.

(^-_^)-Your Lifter Shyne Werewolf

Dear Dave Eggers,

My class read your book The Lifters it was funny and creative. Do you plan on making Lifter 2?
My classmates laughed because it was funny. My favorite part is when Gran hides in the closet with his mom and Maisie. Are you writing another book for kids now?

Dear Dave Eggers

Let me just say I absolutely loved your book it was great!!
I have been wondering what if Gran and Catalina were cousins and they did not know that would be cool. My favorite part in the book is on page 261 where Catalina said “when I drop, and when you drop, it’ll seem like you’re dropping for about four or five miles.” “But what?” Gran said, interrupting. “I didn’t say but,” and the argument goes on and on and on it's very very funny. Also I have a few questions for you #1 Did you ever have a favorite character in the book? #2 What inspired you to write the book? #3 Did you ever write another book like the lifters? And thanks.

Dear Dave Eggers,

Hello I am Angel! Our class loved your book! Here is a little bit about what I liked about the story. My favorite character was Gran. I liked Gran because he was pretty funny. I liked that part where he just ran at the wall And the part where it said “he felt a dab of blood on his forehead”. I misunderstood that and I thought it was actually like the dance called the dab. I also wanted you to know that I won a copy of your book from our teacher in our Rader Auction. The day I got it, I was so happy. Now I can go back and read my favorite parts.

I thought this book was one of the funniest books I have heard. I have laughed a lot too. Another one of my favorite parts when it was talking about prepositions M and H (Moose and helicopters) had to be one of my most favorite parts in the story. It was a lot of fun to hear. It was funny how people were saying “The moose made the sinkholes!”

I also have one question: Will you make part 2? I have an idea what would happen is Maisey got older. And then one day she went into the garage to ind something and then she inds a lift. I think that would be a great idea because it’s gran’s sister inding a lift! I would like the story a lot if it was about Maisey in a second story! I also wanted to ask how long did it take you to take to make the lifters? I think it took about maybe 5 months? But what I know it must have taken a long time to make that story!

Your fan, Angel

Dear Dave Eggers, I’m Aubrey and when I joined Mrs. Rader’s class and she said “We are reading The Lifters” I was excited! Why, because the book sounded cool. I’m glad you made this because that book was..just creative, fun and funny. QUESTIONS:

  1. Are you going to make a part 2#?

  2. Will you make a movie about The Lifters Stuff?

  3. How long did it take you to write all that?

  4. What’s your favorite character?

My favorite character is Gran, why? Because, he is funny, clever and nice. My favorite part in the book is when someone said “The wall always win.” I thought that was really funny. I told myself that I should write a book for kids, I’m still thinking about it. One thing I learned about Gran, is that he is trying so hard to be a Lifter and Catalina really doesn't want Gran to be one, well I think. Well bye bye!!!

Your fan, Aubrey

Dear Dave Eggers,

Little something about me . . .
My favorite character was Gran
My favorite part was when you made Gran hit the wall.
My favorite quote from the book was Grannnt when it is Gran. One of the things I love that you do as a writer is write a lot. I think you should write a sequel and it should be even funnier.

Sincerely, Cedric

Dear, Dave Eggers.
My class loved your book The Lifters here. My favorite part was the ending when they said the word ‘’hope.” I don't really have much else to write, but your story was great and it inspired me to try and make a sequel of the book.

Sincerely, trinity

Dear Dave Eggers, I loved your book. It really took my adventure to a whole new level. I thought it was really funny when Gran thought he was invisible and a ghost and ran straight into a wall! It was really funny. Your book was one of the funniest books I have ever read. And it was kind of creepy that Gran got grabbed by the hollows. And all your endings really really left me on a cliffhanger. I think you're a really good book writer. You should make a sequel of the lifters. Maisie should be being nosey like she is sometimes and she should act like a cat while following Gran and then when Gran went in the ground Maisie followed him and she thought it was so cool while Gran was sleeping Maisie took Grans lift and tried putting it in the ground and then felt the hollows and ran and they almost caught her but she got out just in time and got caught by Gran. That would be a great start. I love your work! Your pro lifter, Elton.

Dear Dave Eggers,

Your book The Lifters is amazing. It inspires me. Sometimes when my teacher reads The Lifters I feel like I'm going into the book. My favorite character is Gran because he is funny and he is a pretty smart boy but sometimes it ends up not going as well as he imagines. This book is one of my favorites to listen to.

I did not like chapter books when I was in 3rd grade but now that I'm hearing this book, I’m starting to think that I should have been reading chapter books all along. When I started to read chapter books I felt like I should be a storyteller like you. And your books have descriptive words in them and the pictures that are really cool. The chapters get better and better each time my teacher reads the books.
I think you should make a part two of the book or make a movie of it.

Your Fan, Willow

Dear DAVE EGGERS,
Our class love your book, The Lifters. Here are some quotes I like from the lifters. On page 181, “tTe wall always wins.”

On page 220, Gran didn’t know what to answer. Again trying to avoid one word answers, he said I believe I can. Did I hear you say, I play kick the can? The voice said.

On page 283, good, the Duke said, because I believe in you. I believe you can keep the world upright. Or do I have the wrong group of people here? Are we not lifters? We are lifters! The crowd shouted.

On page 339, the ending, But there was no need to wait. Gran and Catalina knew the missing word. It was hope. I wondered, can you make a lifter movie so we can see it in real life? I also have a question. Is there going to be a lifter 2 book?

Your fan, Jacob

DEAR DAVE EGGERS

I love the lifters. My favorite part is where he had to pour milk on his pants to get rid of the smell of him peeing himself. I really loved the because of the twists and turns and cliffhangers.

And if there was a movie I would watch so many times and I wonder if there will be a lifters 2 and new characters and gran gets way older I would love it there's just so many creative parts and thats why I love it!

Dear Dave Eggers,

You have really inspired me and The Lifters is a great book.

One of my favorite parts was when Gran peed his pants and spilt milk on his pants to make it look like he just spilt the milk by accident. I really loved your book. I think it's AMAZING! I really enjoyed getting to hear all of the fun adventures! But I have one question: Will you end up making a second book?

Your fan,

Dave Eggers,

My name is Noa and I really enjoyed your book The Lifters. After reading, I have some questions about it. One is, will there be a The Lifers 2? Like where the hollows are coming back for revenge??? Another question I have is that I’m wondering If you published “Soren’s Seventh Song”? If so I can’t wait to read it! I likes the lifters so much, it is funny, mysterious and with every chapter, you leave it off on a cliffhanger for the next chapter.

Thank you for writing The Lifters, One of my favorite book

Your Lifter, Noa
